“I am deliberate and afraid of nothing.”
- Audre Lorde
It's time to change the typographic world.
TypeWknd invites you to apply to speak or lead a workshop this September 24-27, 2020.
We are a volunteer-driven, online-only conference for everyone who sees, draws, makes, studies, and sells type. Your passion and wisdom will be streamed to attendees around the globe and helps shape our industry.
Deadline to Apply
Applications should be submitted to us using our application form by 11:59pm GMT, July 31, 2020.
First-time speakers are welcome to apply! We’ve created a helpful Submissions Guide (PDF, 447Kb) that you can download and use to get your application ready.
What Should I Submit?
We are seeking presenters and sessions representing a range of scripts, especially those from underinvested communities, as well as practical tips and techniques for starting and growing an independent foundry.
This year we are accepting applications for 3 types of content:
- 20-minute talks
- 45-minute panel sessions
- 60-minute workshops
Each talk, panel discussion, or workshop should explore topics of interest to a global typographic community. Talks and panels will be pre-recorded, then streamed to viewers around the world. Workshops will be streamed live to registered participants.
All sessions will be followed by a live question & answer session with the presenter and viewers, moderated by a TypeWknd volunteer.
Check out our Frequently Asked Questions page for additional requirements and details, including when and how you’ll be notified if your application is selected.
Please note: you don’t need a fancy background or film crew to create your content! Most talks are screen-recorded slideshows with your audio narration. Webcams or locally-recorded Zoom calls work great for everything else. We’ll help you with any production questions you have along the way.
We can’t stress this enough: it doesn’t matter where you live, how many fonts you’ve made, or if this is your first time speaking -- if you have something valuable to share with the typographic community, your application is welcome here.
